The Vietnamese Government decided to stop entry for foreigners (including Vietnamese carrying foreign passports) from the UK, Northern Ireland and 26 Schengen countries or for those who had traveled through these countries within 14 days.

As per announcement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam on morning of March 14, due to COVID-19 epidemic around the world, the Vietnamese Government has decided to stop entry for foreigners who came from or traveled to Schengen countries and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland within 14 days before the intended date of arrival in Vietnam and denied granting visa on arrival.
The above decisions take effect 30 days starting on 12:00 PM 15 Mar 2020 and do not apply to those who entry for diplomatic and official purposes.
For foreigners acting as experts, business managers, skilled workers on entry must undergo medical examination and apply appropriate anti-epidemic measures at their companies’s facilities and accommodation in accordance with regulations.
Vietnam has informed this decision to diplomatic agencies, consulates and representative offices of international organizations in Vietnam and will continue to closely monitor and coordinate with other countries, international organizations and partners, timely adjusting appropriate anti-epidemic measures to prevent the epidemic from spreading in community.
Facing the complicated situation of COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also give recommendations to Vietnamese citizens.
Accordingly, those who are in Vietnam should follow the recommendations of competent authorities for not travelling abroad, especially in the epidemic areas.
For those who are living abroad, it is recommended that they do not travel to areas where the disease are occurring; restrict to travel to crowded public areas if it is not necessary; strictly comply with recommendations, instructions, and absolutely comply with the COVID-19 epidemic prevention rule of local authorities; keep calm, avoid bewilderment, keep updating information through official press, be alert and do not spread unverified information.
For those who return from abroad, an accurate and truthful medical declaration must be made on entry.
For those returning from or travelling through the epidemic area need to make accurate and truthful medical declarations upon entry; strictly abide by medical supervision and quarantine for 14 days as prescribed. Acts of concealing, failing to declare, intentionally providing untruthful information, failing to comply with quarantine will be strictly handled according to provisions of applicable laws.
At the same time, it is necessary to promptly inform the local agencies, Vietnamese representatives and their relatives in case of emergency. The Schengen countries where citizens of member countries and foreigners carrying visas of one of their member countries are free to travel. The UK is not part of the Schengen countries even before it officially leaves the EU. The 26 Schengen countries include:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
