Proposal to ease immigration rules and resume some flight routes in accordance with the actual situation

Vietnam Government are studying to propose easing immigration rules, resuming some flight routes, restoring trade, visiting relatives, tourism, trade and investment, suitable to the actual situation of the epidemy in the country and around the world.

In response to correspondence's question about the time when Vietnam resume traffic and international trade, Vice Foreign Affairs Spokesman, Doan Khac Viet said that “Implementing the Prime Minister's direction, relevant ministries and agencies are studying to propose and report to the National Steering Committee for Prevention and Combat of Covid-19, the Prime Minister considers and decides the time and principle of easing immigration rules, resuming some flight routes, restoring trade, visiting relatives, tourism, trade and investment, suitable to the actual situation of the epidemy in the country and around the world. "
Vice Foreign Affairs Spokesman spokesman Doan Khac Viet also stated about Vietnam’s granting of e-visa to citizens of 80 countries since 1 Jul 2020: “On the basis of amending and supplementing a Number of articles of Law on Immigration, Transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam issued by National Assembly on November 25, 2019, the Government recently issued a Resolution on the list of countries where citizens are granted E-visa, list of international border gates that allow foreigners to exit and enter with e-visa, effective from July 1, 2020.
The promulgation of this Resolution aims to implement Vietnam's policies in administrative reform, especially in the field of immigration management, to attract investment, socio-economic development, tourism, foreign affairs and protection of national defense and security".
Regarding ASEAN 36 Summit to be held at the end of June in Danang, Vice Foreign Affairs Spokesman spokesman, Doan Khac Viet said that on March 19, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter to leaders of ASEAN to propose to adjust the time for holding the 36th ASEAN Summit until the end of June 2020 due to the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in the region and around the world.
Aslo Doan Khac Viet said that, as the Chairman of ASEAN 2020, Vietnam is actively preparing the plan to organize the 36th ASEAN Summit which is expected to take place at the end of June and conduct consultations with member countries in ASEAN to ensure the Meeting is successfully held.
